Tencent Games and PUBG Corporation announced today that the mobile version of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has reached a milestone of over 100 million in downloads. It turns out that having a free version of a hit game for phones would draw some people.

A press release from Tencent shared a bit of information on the player base of PUBG Mobile: this version of the battle royale hit recently reached 14 million daily active users, a number that doesn’t even include data from China, Japan, and Korea. In comparison, PUBG Mobile’s chief competition Fortnite reached that number nearly one month ago—and that only account for the iOS version, the Android version releasing fairly recently.

While Fortnite is essentially the same game across all platforms, making cross-platform play possible, the different versions of PUBG have been developed on different tracks—some would say that the mobile version is even more optimized than the Xbox One version. Exclusively to the mobile version was a tie-in event with Mission: Impossible—Fallout, which featured the iconic theme music, new outfits, and new challenges.

Recently, the team behind the battle royale phenomenon released a “Fix PUBG” roadmap for improving the gameplay and performance.
