Monster Hunter World X Final Fantasy XIV Crossover’s First Behemoth Gameplay Looks Epic

Today, during a livestream from Japan, Capcom and Square Enix revealed the first live gameplay of the upcoming Behemoth hunt in Monster Hunter World, marking the first phase of the crossover with Final Fantasy XIV.

At the controls, we see Monster Hunter World Producer Ryozo Tsujimoto, Executive Director Kaname Fujioka, and Director Yuya Tokuda, alongside Final Fantasy XIV Producer and Director Naoki Yoshida.

As usual, the fight includes several phases, and the Behemoth looks absolutely brutal, able to make a mess of hunters that fight it without respecting the challenge. Incidentally, Final Fantasy XIV fans will recognize certain mechanics, like having to hide behind boulders to seek protection from meteors.

The quest is titled “He Taketh it with His Eyes” with the main objective being of course to slay the Behemoth. You’ll need hunter rank 16 or higher to participate, and you’ll have 35 minutes to complete the mission. This quest will always be available, unlike others like Kulve Taroth.

The free update that will implement behemoth which will come on August 2nd at 1:00 AM BST or August 1st at 5:00 PM PDT.

The game is currently available on PS4 and Xbox One. A PC version will come on Steam on August 9th.
