Developer Bit Kid Inc. first began working on Chasm, a procedurally generated Metroidvania game, all the way back in 2012. Now, six years later, the studio has announced that Chasm will finally be available on PC, PS4, and PS Vita on July 31.

Chasm follows a new recruit for the Guildean Kingdom’s army who is tackling their first mission – investigating a important mine that has mysteriously been abandoned and shut down. This kicks off a long journey where players will visit a vast number of hand crafted but procedurally placed rooms, whether they be ancient catacombs or castles. According to the developers, the game feautres over 80 enemies, 10 bosses, 130 equipable items, and should last players anywhere from ten to fifteen hours.

James Petruzzi, Director of Chasm, discussed the game’s lengthy development:

We started development on Chasm about 6 years ago and put everything we had into it. Thanks to the support and patience of our wonderful Kickstarter backers and our families, we’ve been able to achieve the original vision I had for the game without compromise. I’m so excited to finally share it with the world.”

The PS4 and PS Vita versions of the game also featured cross-buy, so those who pick up the game on PS Vita will get the game for free on PS4 and vice versa. Chasm will cost $19.99 at launch across all platforms.
