We learn that while players start with a Ranger javelin, they will then be able to choose in which order they unlock the other suits afterward. You can unlock every single javelin, and switch between missions.
If friends join a player in a mission and they do it together, they will all complete it, but not if they join in the middle of the mission, or skipped some in their storyline. If a player drops, they will have a certain window to rejoin. Joining late will yield limited rewards, but there will still be rewards in order to encourage joining missions in progress.
That being said, it’ll be possible to explore the world without being on a specific mission. Every area of the map will be accessible regardless of level, but there are places where you should probably not go if you’re not strong enough. Interestingly, when on a mission together, every player will get his own ammo, health, and weapon drops.
It’s not possible to fly backward (but you can move backward while hovering, and some Javelins can strafe), and if your thrusters overheat in flight you simply dive. There will also be enemies that will be able to immobilize the players or knock them out of flight. You can jump when on the ground, and some Javelins can even double jump.
At launch, every Javelin will have only one ultimate attack. They will have both color customization and full skins, and customization options won’t be one-time use.
We also hear that players won’t often see loading screens. Incidentally, there won’t be other vehicles to pilot, as players will be limited to javelins. Speaking of Javelins, the enemy faction Dominion has its own.
On the technical side, the team doesn’t yet know if the game will run at 4K, 60 FPS on Xbox One X.
