Muv-Luv Alternative: Strike Frontier Shuts Down, but Muv-Luv Isn’t Over

As announced last month, the Muv-Luv mobile game by DMM Muv-Luv Alternative: Strike Frontier was shut down today, after a period in which players could enjoy most of the game’s content very easily thanks to the title’s last event.

In order to provide a few last goodies, the team at developer âge released today a few wallpapers and some illustrations over the past few days.

We get images by Shiono Hiro, Megumi Nagahama, Kagerou Ooba, Ryou Utsugi, and Kotarou Aizawa. They mostly feature the new heroines created specifically for the game, but we also get a beautiful picture of Yui Takamura from Total Eclipse.

On top of the visuals, who also present “a new character with mysterious equipment” who was supposed to appear in the second part of the story that was supposed to be released in the upcoming months, we also get a few messages from the developers.

Mostly, the messages express regret for the early closure of the game, and thanks for those who played. Yet, we get the promise that while Strike Frontier is over, the Muv-Luv saga continues, and fans should stay tuned because something is in the works.

We also learn that the setting material and outline of the story prepared for part two will be included in âge’s brochure that will be sold at the Summer Comiket in August, so we’ll still be able to learn more of what was supposed to happen.

This is the second Muv-Luv mobile game to close its service in about three years. Muv-Luv Next Answer lasted exactly a year, while Muv-Luv Alternative: Strike Frontier had a longer 22-month timespan following its release in September 2016.

It was also one of the most generous mobile games I ever saw in terms of free content provided to its players, and it’s certainly a pity to see it close.

In other Muv-Luv news, you can check out our recent review of the main trilogy which has just been released on PS Vita, of which you can also see the first gameplay. You should also read our interview with creator Koki Yoshimune, who talks at length about the future of the series.

Muv-Luv Alternative: Strike Frontier was available for iOS, Android, and on browsers for PC. Farewell, my beloved waifus.
