Fortnite has dominated numerous platforms since launching its Battle Royale mode last fall, and while Nintendo dropped the official announcement that the game is now available for the Switch, players are already running into a massive issue if they played on another platform, specifically with PS4.

Several users on Twitter, including Kinda Funny‘s Greg Miller, have posted and shared an issue that appears to be affecting the newly-released Switch version of the game, in that if you have an Epic Games account that previously was linked on PS4, you will be unable to log in and play on Nintendo Switch and have to make a new account to play.

The full message regarding the issue from Epic in-game can be found below:

“This Fortnite account is associated with a platform which does not allow it to operate on Switch. Neither the Fortnite website nor Epic Customer Service are able to change this. To play Fortnite on Switch, please create a new account.”

While it’s easy enough to make a new account for the game, the real downside will come down to the players that have already invested a significant amount of time into the game that are attempting to come over from PS4, where it would theoretically have a pretty sizable audience. Crossplay between Switch and PS4 owners will already not be in place, as confirmed by Epic Games’ PR Manager, though it’s at least worth a helpful PSA if you played before on PS4 that you will need to make a new account for the Switch version.

Fortnite is available now on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC, Mac, iOS, and will be coming to Android this summer.
