Call of Duty: Black Ops III Receives New Weapons, Mode, and More in Operation: Swarm

If you still play Call of Duty: Black Ops III then surprisingly enough you have some new content to sink your teeth into. Today, developer Treyarch and publisher Activision revealed Operation Swarm for the first-person shooter, which is set to tide fans over until the Black Ops 4 reveal event in a couple of weeks.

First and foremost, Operation Swarm adds a brand new map, Fringe Nightfall, which a nighttime version of the popular medium-sized map Fringe. According to Activision, this version of the map takes place “back in its Heyday.”

In addition to that, the new event also adds two new weapons into the mix: the RPK from the original Call of Duty: Black Ops and the Sten from…well, a ton of World War II-based Call of Duty games, the most recent example being Call of Duty: WWII. Just like all the other additional weapons, these can only be obtained via Supply Drops.

Finally, Operation Swarm adds a brand new game mode: Prop Hunt, which is an incredibly popular mode that has also been featured in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered and Call of Duty: WWII. Unfortunately, the mode is only available on 11 multiplayer maps: Aquarium, Combine, Evac, Exodus, Fringe, Redwood, Hunted, Infection, Breach, and Nuk3town, they latter of which features an exclusive version where the only props are mannequins.
