What Remains of Edith Finch Is Game of the Year at the BAFTA Games Awards 2018; Full List Inside

The award ceremony for the British Academy Games Awards just ended, and the winners have just been announced at the Troxy venue in London.

The Game of the Year (or simply “best game” as it’s officially named) award went to What Remains of Edith Finch, that beat Assassin’s Creed: Origins, Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, Horizon Zero Dawn, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and Super Mario Odyssey.

Nominees were selected by the Academy members via online voting, while winners were decided via jury between March 1st and March 8th. Only games released in the United Kingdom between January 1st and December 31st, 2017 were considered eligible to take part in the awards. Of course, this rule does not apply to the Evolving Game category.

Last year, the Best Game award went to Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, while the 2016 edition of the prize went to Fallout 4Destiny won in 2015.
