Valkyria Chronicles 4 Looks Fantastic and Plays Even Better in First Hour of PS4 Pro Gameplay

News, Originals, Platforms, PS4, Sega, Switch, Valkyria Chronicles 4, Xbox One

The demo of Valkyria Chronicles 4 is currently available on the Japanese PlayStation Store, which means that we could finally get our hands on the return of one of the best JRPG series of all times.

Unfortunately, not everyone can enjoy the demo. Some don’t want to make a Japanese PSN account, while others simply don’t own a PS4 and are waiting for the Xbox One and Switch version (or for a hypothetical PC version that has not been announced yet). If you’re among them, don’t worry overmuch. We’re here for you.

Below you can enjoy about an hour of gameplay from the demo, recorded on PS4 Pro. It includes the first mission, that serves as the series’ usual brief tutorial, and the second mission that introduces the new grenadier class and the first mild challenges. On top of that, there are also plenty of cutscenes to enjoy, in order to get to know the game’s charming cast. As far as we know, this is the first hour of the game as it’ll be released in Japan next month, with no actual changes made for the demo.

The demo is downright fantastic, bringing back everything that made the first Valkyria Chronicles good, and expanding on it. If the full game keeps the same level of quality, we’re in for a real treat.

Unfortunately audio and text are entirely in Japanese since we’re probably going to have to wait a lot longer for an English version. Yet, if you want to try it for yourself, you can find out how to make a Japanese PSN account in our guide.

You can check out the videos below, each including a chapter of the game. The prologue is in the first video, while the second clip includes Chapter 1. If you want to see more, you can also enjoy the opening cutscene with the new theme song, which was also revealed in the demo.

Valkyria Chronicles 4 will release in North America and Europe for PS4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One in 2018. It will hit the shelves in Japan for PS4 on March 21st, 2018 and for Nintendo Switch later in the summer.
