Many Pokemon fans have been dying to get their hands on Detective Pikachu since it was first revealed a few years back. Up until now, the game hasn’t been available outside of Japan, but that finally changes in just a couple months.

The Pokemon Company today revealed that Detective Pikachu will be coming to the west on March 23, 2018, where it will be available on the 3DS family of systems.

For those unfamiliar with just how Detective Pikachu works, this brief synopsis should give you a better idea of the game’s story:

Take the role of young Tim Goodman and explore with his talkative partner Pikachu in the action-adventure game Detective Pikachu […] Tim and this gruff, coffee-drinking Pikachu have teamed up to investigate the disappearance of Tim’s father. Look for clues, talk to witnesses, and uncover the secrets of Ryme City!

In addition to revealing the release date for Detective Pikachu, The Pokemon Company also unveiled a new limited-edition amiibo featuring the titular Pikachu in his detective cap. This amiibo is much larger than normal and when used in conjunction with Detective Pikachu it unlocks short videos that contain helpful hints for your investigation. As of now, The Pokemon company hasn’t detailed just when this amiibo will arrive, but it’s probably safe to assume it’ll be near the release of Detective Pikachu.

Lastly, a new trailer for Detective Pikachu was also released this morning and shows off a variety of gameplay sequences as well as highlighting the grizzled Detective Pikachu himself. You can find the trailer in full at the bottom of the page if you’d like to get a better idea of how the game will function.
